Over 30 years of industrial experience Przem participated in the projects on 150+ paper machines in all regions of the world in the following major areas:

  • Selection and optimization of chemical applications: retention and drainage, pitch and stickies control, internal sizing, strength control
  • Troubleshooting runnability and quality problems - holes, breaks, defects, deposits, printability 
  • Optimizing system-wide chemical applications and transforming them into simple, cost-effective, finely tuned chemical program
  •  Focusing on the compatibility of all applications and optimal chemical conditions in the system 
  • Assisting with all chemistry aspects of new grade development - defining needs, selecting programs, training personnel
  •  Brightness development, brightness preservation of mechanical pulps - reducing cost and impact on wet end chemistry of the system

Selected examples of projects:

  • Machine efficiency increased by 6% through redesigning pitch/stickies control program after neutral pH conversion
  •  Assisted mill in the wet end chemistry stabilization for the hydrogen peroxide bleached TMP system resulting in 5% efficiency improvement and reaching new grades specifications
  • AKD persisting press deposition reduced significantly through fine-tuning addition point and improving colloidal retention
  • Developing a chemical program for newsprint mill converting to packaging grade
  • Troublesome deposits of rosin acids on the offset printing machine eliminated through introduction of pitch control program including organic fixatives and inorganic adsorbent
  • Missing dots problem in SCA+ roto product eliminated through improved filler retention
  • High level of troublesome sulfites reduced by 60% by optimization of hydrosulfite bleaching of mechanical pulp
  • Filler retention in the highly contaminated furnish increased, and retention program costs reduced by innovative filler pre-treatment strategy
